LIBRARY RULES
The library is primarily for the use of Society members but non-members
wishing to use the facility during staffed sessions may join the Society by
payment of the annual membership subscription (Individual 20 euro; Family 30
euro) at reception in Rothe House (see also Membership).
Alternatively non-members may use the library on payment of 5 euro per session,
or part thereof, to the library attendant on duty.
There are three staffed sessions per week:

In exceptional circumstances, arrangements may be made for access at other
times by contacting the Hon. Librarian. Contact details below.
All persons using the facility must obey the rules of the library and follow the
instructions of the attendant in charge. In addition to caring for the
collection, consideration must be given to other users and all items be returned
to their proper place at the end of each session. Every user must sign the
attendance book for the relevant session. Visitors are advised that CCTV cameras
continually monitor the library. Food and drink must not be brought into the
library and smoking is not allowed.
Loans of certain items are permitted to members. A total of three items may be
taken per person for a period of up to three weeks. Loans must be signed for by
the borrower and checked out and on return by the library attendant.
Journals, the files of Finn's Leinster Journal/Kilkenny Journal
etc., Kilkenny Moderator, books with blue sticker on the spine, the map
collection, archives, etc., are on closed access and may be consulted only in
the library by consultation with the library attendant. These items may not be
removed from the library at any time.
Only pencils may be used in the library and no mark should be made on any item
of the collection. Photocopying where permitted (some newspapers or easily
damaged items), will be carried out by the attendant and is available at 12
cents for A4 and 15 cents for A3 sheets. Microfilm may be viewed and copies made
which will be charged at 15 cents for A4.
The library attendant will assist users as far as possible in sourcing their
requirements.
